“Rheumatic disorders are common causes of morbidity, disability resulting in work loss in the slum communities. Women are affected more frequently than men.”, said Mamta Dave, director of Real Body Yoga Institute.
She said, "The camps focused on detection of rheumatic disorders, provision of health education and demonstrating simple Yoga postures to the women that can be practiced regularly and give more strength, more flexibility and less pain to their joints."
The commonest rheumatic disorders detected were osteoarthritis of the knees, low back pain, ankle pain, cervical spondylitis and lumbar spondylosis.
